Latronics ACTS40 40A Automatic Transfer Switch
Are you tired of faffing about manually switching your power sources? The ACTS40 automatically switches between two AC power sources. It has a primary and secondary source. If the primary source is lost, it automatically switches both active and nuetral to the secondary source. It does this within 12ms and at the zero-crossing point, i.e. at that point in the sinewave where voltage is zero. This is important as it means that sensitive electronics such as computers etc won’t experience damaging power spikes, losses or abrupt power supply changes.
Indicators clearly display when each of the AC power sources and AC output power are available.
When used with a generator as the primary source, the ACTS 40 senses voltage and applies time delays to ensure the generator has warmed up and the voltage is stable before switching to generator power. The generator voltage is continuously monitored and in the unlikely event the generator voltage becomes unstable the device switches to the secondary power source until the generator voltage restabilises.
WHAT IT DOES:
The Latronics ACTS automatically makes your solar powered lifestyle that much easier. It is a very cost effective and nifty device that quite literally sells itself.
Essentially the ACTS40 will switch between two AC power sources up to 40A at 230/240V or 110/120V AC. It has two AC inputs and one AC output which goes to the main loads in a dwelling, RV, caravan or boat.
The AC inputs include a primary input and a secondary input. The primary is prioritised, meaning that the ACTS40 will always use that primary power AC source if it is available. However, if the primary source ever disappears or fails outside tolerance, then the ACTS40 will automatically switch to the secondary input to supply power. Here are 2 examples of how this would work:
Off Grid: The generator would be connected as the primary input and the battery inverter as secondary. When the generator starts (either manually or automatically), and once the generator supply is stable the ACTS40 will switch to the generator. When the generator stops or the output becomes unstable, the ACTS40 will automatically switch to the inverter supply. Look mum, no hands!
RV or boar: On a boat or caravan you would have the external "shore power" as the primary input of the ACTS40 and your battery inverter as the secondary source. When you pull up the caravan park or mooring the inverter may already be running the fridge and other devices but as soon as you plug in the mains AC (or a generator) the transfer switch will automatically swap over to run from the grid supply. When it's time to leave you simply unplug from the mains or generator and the ACTS40 automatically switches back to the inverter.
FEATURES & BENEFITS:
Compact design: Allows flexibility and ease of installation.
High Quality Connectors: The inputs and outputs are connected via heavy duty high quality screw terminals to ensure a safe and secure connection.
Panel Mount or Surface Mount: The surface mount model (ACTS40) has dust and low-pressure water jet protection (from all directions) allows it to be installed almost anywhere around the system, without affecting its long term reliability. The panel mount model (ACTS40-PM) has a depth of only 65mm and can be mounted into switch board giving a more professional and tidy installation.
Transparent Changeover: The ACTS40 can recognise a loss of power from your primary source and transfer to your back-up source of power in approximately 12ms. This giving you transparent and un-interrupted power transfer.
Double Pole Transfer: Double pole relays switch both active and neutral to eliminate any earth or grounding problems and completely isolate each source.
Simplicity: Minimises and simplifies your systems wiring, while providing a fully automatic system manager.
On Delay Timer: Ensures the generator has warmed up and the output voltage has stablized before transfering power to the output.
Voltage Interlock: Monitors the generator output voltage and if it is too high or too low will transfer the output power back to the secondary input until the generator output restabilises.
Reliability: Over 25 years of experience and continuous adherence to stringent quality standards ensures optimum reliability backed with a full 2 year parts and labour warranty.
LED Status Indicators: A full set of LED's keeps the user informed of its operation at all times:
- Primary power stable
- Primary power not stable
- Secondary power available
- Output power available
